The remediating project turned out to be one of the hardest assignments I’ve ever had, creating three mock film trailers for my short story “The Last Resort”.  Having never produced any sort of video before, I truly had no idea how difficult it would be to produce a movie trailer.  The most difficult part was simply figuring out how to use this entire new technology and platform – it took a long, long time. Even though the trailers do not exceed a minute and a half, they still involve a high amount of clips – they are just much shorter.  Sometimes it would take about an hour just to find, cut, and edit what would end up being a second and a half clip.  The behind-the-scenes work involved in this project was far more than I could ever have imagined – but it makes it all the more gratifying to finish.

The three trailers are all slightly different in purpose: the first is the “official” one, acting as the primary dramatic trailer to gain interest for the film; the second trailer highlights the ethical debate among the characters more heavily than the others; while the third is filled with high-speed action aimed at excitement. Though extremely difficult and frustrating at times, it was also very fun.  I always enjoy challenging myself – and this project I must say was one of the greater challenges I’ve faced in my time thus far at Michigan.
